Abstract: The objective of this analysis was to determine the effectiveness that red-light-camera (RLC) systems had in reducing crashes at intersections using before-and-after research methods focusing on data from 275 monitored intersections in 38 communities across Texas. The purpose of the analysis was to evaluate the crash frequency and safety benfits of RLC systems. Safety benefits detected were consistent with those found in many previous studies, including reductions in right-angle and increases in rear-end crashes.
